The Bachelor: Zach Shallcross looks for big love energy and lets a BIP alum down easy

Los Angeles, California - If there's one thing Bachelor Nation can rely on The Bachelor for, it's a sudden plot twist and a celebrity cameo, and that's just what viewers got from the second episode of season 27.

After the premiere of Zach Shallcross' season of The Bachelor, we were sure that things would be anything but interesting.

However, episode two respectfully said, "Hold my Aperol spritz."

While Zach happens to look like nearly every Bachelor and franchise history, we'll say that he does seem like a genuine guy who is truly looking for a partner to build a life with, and not just a sponsorship deal or influencer fame.

It's weird to see a franchise lead carry himself in a mature manner with his dignity intact, but that's just the show Zach put on during Monday's episode. And if we're being honest, we're not mad about it.

On season 27's second episode, Bachelor Nation witnessed the tech executive venture out on his first one-on-one and first group date, which rapper Latto crashed – and for good reason.

What was Latto doing on episode two of Zach Shallcross' season of The Bachelor?

Group dates on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have become rather cringe in recent history, but Zach's first of the season was surprisingly manageable – dare we say enjoyable – to watch.

Granted, when Big Energy rapper Latto's involved, as she was on Zach's "big, big love" group date to help bring out the ladies' "bad b**ch energy", it's pretty hard not to be fully invested.

But Latto wasn't he only one who made a special appearance at the first group date, as Bachelor In Paradise villain Victoria Fuller, Bachelor Nation fan favorite Tahzjuan Hawkins, and BIP alum Courtney Robertson also crashed the party to give a judgmental helping hand.

Though Victoria started off by swearing that they weren't there to steal Zach, Tahzjuan decided that she'd like to hang around and explore a connection with season 27's leading man.

Clearly sensing that the group of women wasn't feeling Tahzjuan's attempt to join the ranks for a shot at finding love with Zach, he denied her request to join the cast.

Then, in strange-for-a-first-date fashion, Zach decided to bring single mom Christina Mandrell, the chosen lady for his first one-on-one, to a birthday party for his mom that nearly every member of his family was also attending. You know, to keep things casual.

Though he did not take well to the news that Christina is a mother, the leading man ended up giving her a rose at the end of their one-on-one date.

Ultimately, Zach sent three women home at the rose ceremony, and though he managed to turn down Tahzjuan's surprise offer to stick around, it's possible another blast from the Bachelor franchise's past could drop by the Mansion to vie for his love.

Tune into Zach's season of The Bachelor on Mondays at 8 PM EST on ABC.
