London, UK – Rumors have been circulating for some time that Prince Harry is planning a new documentary about the late Princess Diana for the 30th anniversary of his mother's death. However, his brother Prince William apparently isn't thrilled with the plan.
According to Page Six, William wants to prevent him and his estranged brother from being "pitted against each other" during the production.
Friends of the 44-year-old heir to the throne also explained that the upcoming 30th anniversary of his mother's death next August is "a difficult situation" for William, as he's still emotionally raw from his mother's sudden passing.
The future king has not yet decided how he will commemorate Diana – whether in a private setting or publicly.
His brother, however, has been planning a documentary about their mother for some time.
Another source reported that the 42-year-old Duke of Sussex has even reached out to several of Diana's friends to enlist them for a potential film.
"He is still considering the most meaningful way to honor her legacy during this important anniversary year," the source said.
In addition to a film, Harry has also considered other possible projects.
Charles Spencer recently published a book about Princess Diana
Harry is also said to have tried to recruit his uncle Charles Spencer for the project.
Last month, he published a bombshell memoir about his late sister Diana, which included some damning allegations against William and Harry's father, King Charles.
The 62‑year‑old wrote in his book that he had declined all requests to appear in documentaries about the People's Princess – including a request from a "nephew," though he did not specify whether this was William or Harry.
Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36 from severe internal injuries. Earlier, she had been pursued by paparazzi in Paris before her car crashed.
