Washington DC - President Donald Trump recently announced that seniors across the country will receive a check from him to help pay their high Medicare costs.
In a Truth Social post shared on Friday, Trump announced that his administration will soon begin sending out checks "to over 20 MILLION wonderful Seniors to help pay for their Medicare Part B premiums."
"This money will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a pointless 'Slush Fund' that has only been used by Dumocrats in Congress to pay for the Waste, Fraud, and Abuse for their Special Interest friends, and drive up Healthcare costs," Trump claimed.
According to Fox Business, the checks will provide $90 per person to help pay Medicare Plan B, which has a monthly premium of $202.90 and an annual deductible of $283.
The promise comes ahead of the November midterm elections, where Trump's Republican Party will fight desperately to keep its razor-thin majority from Democrats, who have vowed to impeach the president a third time if they regain power.
While giving a speech during the Republican midterm convention in Dallas last month, Trump urged the crowd to "pretend that I'm on the ballot" and promised that every American would receive a check for $5,000 if the GOP wins.
In his post on Friday, Trump noted the money for seniors is separate from the "highly popular" $5,000 checks, which he reiterated will only come "if" Republicans win.
The strategy of pretending Trump is on the ballot has been largely adopted by Republican candidates, but it may prove dangerous, as recent polls overwhelmingly show the president's approval ratings in the low 30s.
