In January, a Twitter user alleged that Percy had assaulted her at a party and claimed that the 21-year-old actor had mistreated other women as well.

These allegations quickly circulated on social media, as Variety reported. Soon after her tweet went viral, similar allegations against the actor followed.

Shortly thereafter, some fans of the hit series called for Percy to be removed. The actor portrayed the artist and romantic interest of Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega), Xavier Thorpe, in Season 1.

On Tuesday, after months of social media silence, Percy shared a statement to his Instagram story. In it, he denied the allegations while avoiding specifics. He did not explain what prompted the timing of his response.

He denied the accusations, writing, "Earlier this year, somebody I've never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats."

In the allegations from January, the Twitter user said Percy had sexually assaulted her at a party he had hosted in Toronto, Canada. Furthermore, she accused Percy of having sex with her friend when the woman was under 18.

The same user claimed Percy and his friends gave drugs and alcohol to underage girls in order to have sex with them. The tweet has since been deleted.

Percy dismissed the allegations in his statement to social media, saying, "Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful."

The actor added, "My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been ignored. She gave me permission to include her in this message."

"The rumors are false," the actor wrote. "I can't accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people's safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims."

Percy concluded his statement by thanking those who'd stood by him and asked that the harassment of his friends and family end.

Netflix has not commented on the allegations against Percy, and it remains unclear whether he will be part of the cast for season 2 of Wednesday.
