Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston calls it quits with Blake Moynes

San Diego, California – Before the current Bachelorette even embarks on her first date, the show's former lead Katie Thurston announced her engagement to Blake Moynes has been called off.

It looks like Bachelor Nation has another failed relationship to add to the books.

On Monday evening, last season's Bachelorette Katie Thurston and her fiancé Blake Moynes announced they were going their separate ways via Instagram.

The former couple shared what appears to be the same message on their respective accounts, writing, "We are so grateful for the moments we shared and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners."

After a late entrance onto Thurston's season, Moynes almost instantaneously swept The Bachelorette off her feet. The season ended in early August with Moynes getting down on one knee to pop the question with a dazzling ring created by none other than Neil Lane.

Given that Moynes resides in Toronto, Canada and Thurston recently moved from her hometown of Seattle, Washington to sunny San Diego, California, it's possible that physical distance played a role in their break-up.

Recently, Thurston has been embarking on uncharted territory in terms of her career. On October 22, the 30-year-old made her debut stand-up comedy appearance while opening for comedian Whitney Cummings in Anaheim, California.

This was a pivot not many in Bachelor Nation saw coming for Thurston. But given her experience with podcasting and her outspoken nature, playing the part of a stand-up comic seems to suit Thurston quite well.

In the two months since the finale aired, Moynes and Thurston appear to have visited each other several times, with their latest publicly-known reunion being on September 24, according to Thurston's Instagram.

While it's a sad day for Bachelor Nation, the current Bachelorette Michelle Young still has a shot at finding her soulmate through the franchise, with a new episode airing Tuesday night at 8 PM EST on ABC.
