Washington DC - President Donald Trump has claimed he could have done "bad things" to Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama, but decided not to out of "respect" for the presidency.
While taking questions in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump was asked about Democrats who have discussed impeaching him if the party takes back control of the House and Senate after the midterms.
"I could have done very bad things to Hillary Clinton. I could have done very, very bad things to Joe Biden. I could have done very bad things to Barack Hussein Obama," the president responded.
"I thought it was inappropriate to do so because you have to treat the office of the presidency with respect."
In conclusion, Trump told the room, "I can do whatever I want, if I want."
During his first term in office, Trump was impeached twice – once for pressuring Ukrainian President Zelensky to investigate Biden and a second time for his role in inciting the January 6 riots at the US Capitol.
In both instances, the Senate declined to remove him from office.
Trump has long used Clinton, Biden, and Obama to incite anger towards Democrats with his MAGA base, and just recently called Obama "the most corrupt president in history" in a bizarre comparison to former President Richard Nixon.
Trump told reporters that Democrats "don't know" what they would impeach him for this time, though critics have pointed to numerous offenses, including refusals to comply with federal law or rulings made by federal judges, alleged civil rights abuses, and his family's unprecedented profiting off his presidency.
