Oscars 2023: Brendan Fraser, Rihanna, and Michelle Yeoh make history with nominations!

Los Angeles, California - The race to the Oscars has begun as the nominees for the 95th Academy Awards has been released!

On Tuesday morning, actors Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed unveiled the exciting list of nominations for the 2023 Oscars.

Hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel, this year's ceremony is sure to be an unforgettable one as there were a lot of firsts in the top categories!

Brendan Fraser garnered his first Oscar nom in the Best Actor section for his ground-breaking performance in The Whale. Additionally, Austin Butler was recognized in the same category for his take on the late king of Rock n' Roll, Elvis Presley.

Elsewhere, the Best Actress section also caused a lot of buzz.

Michelle Yeoh made history as the first Asian nominee, while Ana de Armas received for her first Oscar nod for her role as the iconic Marilyn Monroe in the controversial Netflix drama, Blonde.

Plus, Angela Bassett continues to represent for Marvel, scoring a spot in the Best Supporting Actress category for her dynamic performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Rihanna also received her first nod for the song, Lift Me Up, which is the lead song from the Marvel movie's soundtrack.

Final voting for the Oscars will take place from March 2-7, with the live ceremony airing on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theater on ABC.
