Santa Clara, California - An investigation rollercoaster ride ended with a final twisted email conversation. Now, this Apple program manager is using the last thing left to her: her voice.

Ashley Gjøvik, a program manager and outspoken activist, was fired in September for what Apple claims was disclosure of confidential information.

This came after a period of paid administrative leave for Gjøvik, who claims the tech giant has retaliated illegally following her efforts to advocate for employee rights and safety.

An email conversation was the only warning Gjøvik had from Employee Relations before being fired.

In that exchange, she was informed of a confidentiality breach and responded with her willingness to cooperate. The next email ignored her response and declared that she had not cooperated.

She has claimed that she expected to be fired at some point because of her vocal activism. Her efforts have been aimed at pointing out and correcting the unsafe work environment, harassment, intimidation, and mishandling of employee grievances at Apple.

She also tweeted a link to her own summary of events going back to January 2021, which is an excellent place to start the deep dive into her activism and her experience working with Apple ER.

Gjøvik has said despite being fired, she is determined to continue pushing for employee rights and improved safety.
