Hardly anyone apart from fans of the Canadiens saw Saturday night's game six going the way that it went, but in the end, it was Montreal outlasting Toronto 3-2 in overtime. For a team that many thought would maybe only get one game in this best-of-seven series, here they are, in a real position to upset one of the league's best teams.

The Leafs finished the regular season as the North Division's number one team. They also happen to have the NHL's top goal scorer during the regular season in Auston Matthews (23). The Canadiens haven't seemed to care in the last two games of the series, winning now two straight elimination games, and forcing a seventh and deciding game.

In front of the first group of fans to see an NHL game in person since Canada locked down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were treated to nothing short of an amazing game.

Montreal stayed locked in a close battle with Toronto with neither team scoring until the third period when Corey Perry scored a power-play goal, assisted by Tyler Toffoli. Toffoli followed that one up just a minute later with another power-play goal to give the Habs a 2-0 lead. The Leafs responded with two goals of their own, one by Jason Spezza and the other by T.J. Brodie to tie the game, sending things into overtime.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi saved the game and the season for the Canadiens with a goal in the final minutes of overtime to keep hope alive for Montreal.

It's hard to say which is the bigger shock – that Montreal is playing way better than expected, or that Toronto hasn't been playing like a Stanley Cup Contender. All questions will be answered on Monday night in Toronto.

The winner of game seven will go on to face the Winnipeg Jets in the second round.
