Sony reveals the new PlayStation VR2 headset is coming early next year

Tokyo, Japan - Sony has officially announced that its new PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset is set to launch early next year.

The new VR2, which drops February 22, 2023, boasts of better graphics than its predecessor, eye-tracking, new controllers, and a price tag of $550.

Sony is also promising more freedom of movement when the headset is connected to the PlayStation 5 which will now be attached using just one cable.

Among other things, four cameras are embedded in the headset to more precisely monitor how players and their controllers move, as well as which direction players are looking in.

Buyers will get the new headset, two of the new PS VR2 sense controllers, which are also sold individually for $49, and a pair of stereo headphones.

More than 20 new VR games are set to be available at launch, including classics such as Horizon Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil Village, and the city-building sim Cities VR.

The VR2 will also get re-releases of games put out for the previous VR due to the new unit not being backwards compatible.

The PlayStation VR2 will be available to pre-order on November 15, and will release everywhere on February 22, 2023
