Highlands Ranch, Colorado - MAGA Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is facing a new challenger in her re-election bid after Democrat Trisha Calvarese dropped out of the race.
On Tuesday, Calvarese shared an X post in which she praised her campaign for never "compromising fundamental values," but apologized for the fact that it "fell short."
This was the second time Calvarese was running against Boebert, who defeated her by 12 points in 2024.
The decision to withdraw from this race came as Eileen Laubacher – Calvarese's challenger in the 4th District's Democratic primary – managed to raise more money than any candidate in all congressional races across the state.
In her post, Calvarese congratulated Laubacher, who will likely win the primary in June and go on to face Boebert in November.
Laubacher responded with a post of her own, praising Calvarese for her "energy and persistence," and for having "helped elevate the visibility of this race."
"It's time to turn the corner and focus fully on what comes next and what matters most: defeating Lauren Boebert in November," she added.
Can Eileen Laubacher defeat Lauren Boebert in November?
Calvarese's decision to concede also came after she originally sued the Colorado Democratic Party earlier this year to block Laubacher from the race, arguing that Laubacher, having just registered as a Democrat in March, should be disqualified from the assembly process.
A judge ultimately ruled against her, allowing Laubacher's campaign to proceed.
While Laubacher has quadrupled the amount of money raised by Boebert, she is still considered a long shot, as the 4th District is considered the reddest in the state.
