NFL: A former QB returns to help the Bills hand the Bears a big beatdown

Chicago, Illinois - The Buffalo Bills went into the windy city on Saturday afternoon to hand the Chicago Bears a big preseason loss as one of their former players had much to prove.

The Bills had their way in this game, beating the Bears 41-15 in a preseason game that wouldn’t normally mean much, but this time, meant some redemption for one of their former players.

Mitch Trubisky (27) was back in Chicago for the first time since he was traded from there for the 2021 first-round draft pick that put rookie Justin Fields in a Bears uniform.

Looking to prove that the Bears should’ve perhaps kept him around, Trubisky took his time in the first half, teeing off on the Bears’ defense. He went 20-of-28 passing for 221 yards and a touchdown.

The rest of the Bills took Trubisky’s lead and dominated Chicago throughout the game. The Bills were ahead by as much as 28 points before the Bears were finally able to score thanks to an Andy Dalton 73-yard TD pass to Rodney Adams, midway through the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Bills kept up the pressure by adding to their lead and keeping the Bears from cashing in on any offensive opportunities. Chicago did add nine more points on the board in the fourth, but it was far too little, too late.

Reggie Gilliam made a huge impact on the ground, with eight carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns, while Devin Singletary carried the football just twice for 21 yards and a score. Bears running back Khalil Herbert managed to get himself into the end zone, as part of his three carries for 15 total yards.

Both teams are back in action for their final NFL preseason games on August 28 as the Bills are back home to face the Packers, while the Bears head to Tennessee to take on the Titans.
