The Titans, who have already been losing in a manner of speaking, lost their last game of the preseason 27-24 to the Bears.

The team had been spending much of the week trying to contain a recent Covid-19 outbreak that’s taken away 12 team members, including their head coach and starting quarterback.

Chicago, on the other hand, took the opportunity to start their rookie quarterback Justin Fields (22), letting him get more in-game experience that resulted in Fields going seven of 10 passing for 54 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 13 yards off two carries before he was replaced by NFL veteran Nick Foles.

Cornerback Tre Roberson actually got things going for the Bears by intercepting a Logan Woodside pass for a touchdown midway through the second quarter.

Foles, the MVP of Super Bowl LII, showed he still knew a thing or two at the helm. He completed 10 out of 13 pass attempts for 142 yards and two touchdowns, both to Bears tight end Jesper Horsted, who caught all three of Chicago’s offensive touchdowns.

For Tennessee, their running game carried much of the offensive load with Mekhi Sargent carrying the football 17 times for 51 total yards and a touchdown. Javian Hawkins also pitched in with 10 carries for 49 yards and another touchdown.

Their backup quarterbacks tried to fill in while starter Ryan Tannehill is one of 12 Titans who have tested positive for the coronavirus. Woodside started the game for Tennessee and finished his time 12 of 27 passing for 100 yards, one TD, and one pick while Matt Barkley went seven for 15, 126 yards, and an interception of his own.

Both teams have to make their cutdowns for their 53-man official rosters by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 31, to prepare for their regular-season openers on September 12.
