Fortunately, his owner, Michelle, saw the incident. She and her daughter, Mikaela, rushed to Jasper's aid.

"It was just panic, and I just ran. Then I got to the end of the patio, and then I just sort of froze and screamed because I just saw this snake ... the python just wrapping all around him," Michelle told WIN News.

Courageously, she dashed barefoot towards the reptile, slamming a roll of wrapping paper over its head.

The snake wrapped itself around its victim all the more tightly, so Michelle grabbed the python with her bare hands.

Michelle hurled the snake across the yard, successfully freeing Jasper. After dislodging the python, Michelle and Mikaela's thoughts turned immediately to their injured pet.

"It was very tense. This adrenaline within me, it kicked in, and I just helped out," explains Mikaela. "It felt so long that the snake was wrapped around him, and I'm glad we got to him in time."

Fortunately, Jasper was not seriously harmed by the assault. He ran straight into the house after his owners liberated him and received only minor injuries from the attack, including a bite on his left ear and a bruised lung.
