When Natasha Prayag and her boyfriend Adam Coates came home from a trip to Coates' parents' house, they suddenly spotted a little animal in their living room before it bolted.

Both were left in shock. Did they just witness a fox running through their home?

The couple spent over half an hour searching the entire house for the intruder until they spotted a red ear poking out of the washing machine.

Prayag immediately grabbed her phone to take a picture, which she posted to her Twitter account, saying, "Honestly, guys. I've got a fox stuck in my washing machine. WHAT THE ACTUAL FOX."

Once Prayag and Coates had both collected themselves, it was time to lure the little guy out of the house – which turned out to be harder than they initially thought.

"We both panicked a little bit and we weren't sure what to do," Prayag told Daily Mail. "We tried to scare it out of the back door but he was holding firm in the washing machine. He was very happy there and chilled out."

They then decided to lure the fox out with food instead.

"There was my little girl's pasta that I made for her a few days ago. It was pea pasta. And I was like 'You know what that is just going to have to do.'"

Coates put the box of food outside by the back door and they both started waiting – which felt like infinity.

"The fox was sort of just sitting there in the washing machine staring, looking around. We waited for about five minutes and then very very slowly, he started coming back out of the washing machine and slowly had a look around and then cautiously went into the garden and then gave the little tupperware box of pea pasta a sniff."

But it quickly became clear the fox wasn't the biggest fan of peas. It ran off without giving the meal a try, "which is not an indication of my cooking at all," Prayag joked.
