Denzel Washington stuns as the doomed Scottish king in The Tragedy of Macbeth teaser

On Tuesday, the trailer dropped for The Tragedy of MacBeth, Joel Cohen's adaption of the famous "Scottish play" and fans are already getting excited.

Denzel Washington will portray "the man who would be king," aka the ambitious Scottish king, Lord Macbeth.

Meanwhile, Frances McDormand takes on the role of the malicious Lady Macbeth in the black-and-white film.

The intense, short teaser begins with a quick glance at the wicked three witches, all played by Kathryn Hunter.

Viewers are then shown other important characters that will play a crucial role in the demise of the protagonist – including MacDuff and King Duncan, played by Corey Hawkins and Brendan Gleeson, respectively.

An ominous voice can be heard reciting the famous line, "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes."

The movie will first premiere at the upcoming New York Film Festival before its limited theatrically release this Christmas.

Following this, the dramatic flick will head straight to Apple TV+ the next month.

Will Denzel and Frances sweep the Oscars next year with their riveting performances?

The Tragedy of Macbeth hits theaters on December 25th and on Apple TV+ January 14.
