A viral video of the incident, reportedly shot on October 4, has been making its rounds on social media and garnering national attention.

Two workers are seen donning a Ghostface mask, the killer from the Scream movies, as they approach children and yell in a scary voice, sending them into hysterics.

In one shot, a teacher in a green shirt invites a masked worker into her class and points out kids that have "been bad" so the worker can scare them.

The teacher then goes into a nearby classroom and tells the children, "I hope y'all are ready." The toddlers are seen crying and attempting to hide.

Sheila Sanders, the daycare's owner who said she was previously unaware of the incident, immediately fired those involved after learning about the videos, which also prompted an investigation by the state's Department of Health and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Former employees Sierra McCandless, Oci-Anna Kilburn, Jennifer Newman, and Shyenne Shelton are now each facing three charges of felony child abuse. Another employee, Traci Hutson, is facing two misdemeanor charges of failure to report abuse and simple assault against a minor.

Lil’ Blessings Daycare parents still support the facility despite viral video incident

Despite how truly horrible the incident was, some of the parents of the children seen in the video say they still support the facility and its owner.

"Was the situation that did happen horrible? Absolutely," Kimberly Smith, whose child was in one of the clips, told the AP. "But should this daycare be shut down and others be villainized that are still here? Absolutely not."

Chas Allen, another parent, told the Monroe Journal that those calling for the daycare to be shut down aren't "thinking about the implications that that might have" due to the fact that it is the community's only daycare.

Fortunately, the facility and authorities are taking the incident very seriously.
