George Latorre was sitting in an aisle seat on an October 9 flight from Vietnam to New York when he says the flight attendant slipped and covered him in hot coffee, burning his arm and badly damaging his tattoo.

According to Latorre, the incident led to second degree burns as well as "blistering; peeling; bleeding; possible permanent cosmetic deformity and scarring."

The complaint, which was filed in a Manhattan court on Thursday, accuses the flight attendant of serving "scalding coffee to the plaintiff in an unsafe manner."

Latorre didn't hold back, calling the flight attendant "careless, reckless, and negligent," and criticizing the airline for "failing to hire and retain competent personnel."

In response to a request for comment by the New York Post, an American Airlines spokesperson simply said that they would not be commenting on any ongoing legal matters.

According to Latorre, a medical professional said that the damage caused by the burns could potentially require surgery. American Airlines also allegedly refused a request he made to get an upgrade from the airline after the incident.
