NBA: Steph Curry re-signs for a record payday, while Melo finally joins LeBron in LA

San Francisco, California - Records in the NBA are usually broken during the season, likely in the middle of a game but this time, a contract resigning done on Tuesday is now the biggest deal ever done in the league.

Stephen Curry (33) of the Golden State Warriors agreed to a four-year contract worth a whopping $215 million, making him the first player in NBA history to sign two separate contracts that are each worth over $200 million, in a career.

The blockbuster news was reported to ESPN by Jeff Austin of Octagon Sports, Curry’s business agent. The three-time NBA champ and two-time league MVP previously signed a five-year deal worth just over $210 million back in 2017. This new deal is technically an extension that will keep him with the Warriors until the end of the 2026 season.

Octagon Sports, the talent agency that represents Curry, also made headlines this year as they were behind the recent deal that has kept defending NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee with a modest five-year, $228 million deal.

Melo might’ve finally found a winning ticket in LA

The most prolific scoring "journeyman" in the NBA, Carmelo Anthony has parted ways with the Portland Trail Blazers in search of greener pastures in Los Angeles, signing a one-year deal to join "The King," LeBron James, and the Lakers. The news was also announced to ESPN by Anthony's agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA Sports, however, the specific numbers aren’t known at this time.

Melo came into the league in 2003 when he was drafted by the Nuggets, the same year as James. From there, he went on to play for the Knicks, Thunder, Rockets, and for the last two seasons, the Blazers. All that traveling around has helped him achieve 10th spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 27,370 points, just behind Sixers legend Moses Malone.

The ten-time All-Star, six-time All-NBA selection, and three-time Olympic gold medalist will be heading into his 19th NBA season later this year.
