Peach Bowl: Which of Georgia's top players will suit up against Ohio State?

Atlanta, Georgia - As the College Football Playoff (CFP)'s semifinal Peach Bowl is set for Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs are still facing injuries just days away from the big showdown against Ohio State.

Following Georgia's practice on Monday, coach Kirby Smart confirmed that his star wide receiver Ladd McConkey and lineman Warren McClendon are still only "hopefuls" for the semifinal game roster.

"We are excited to hopefully get those guys back and see what they do this week," Kirby said in a press conference.

Both McConkey and McClendon left Georgia's SEC Championship win having suffered knee injuries.

McConkey, the team’s leading wide receiver with 675 receiving yards and five touchdowns, has been competing with knee soreness all season long.

And lineman McClendon sustained an MCL sprain, which is still an issue for the fourth-year junior, Smart previously revealed.

If either starter is sidelined during the Peach Bowl, it will create more opportunity for Georgia's underrated players to shine on the field. The Bulldogs' tight end Darnell Washington can add to the receivers list, while sophomore Amarius Mims may start in place of McClendon amid his ongoing knee issues.

With only three more days of practice left, these Georgia players are definitely out of the Peach Bowl due to season-ending injuries:

  • Nolan Smith, EDGE
  • Andrew Paul, RB
  • Dan Jackson, DB
  • Drew Bobo, OL

The Bulldogs will shoot for the chance at another national title on Saturday, December 31 against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Peach Bowl, airing on ESPN at 8 PM EST.
