NBA Playoffs: The Hawks shock the Sixers on their home floor to end the "Process" in Game 7

Trusting the "Process" has failed, at least for this season in Philadelphia, as the Sixers lost the deciding game of the Eastern Conference semifinals 104-96 against the Hawks. The fifth seeds ended up winning three out of four games played in Philly during this series to upset the East’s number one team.

Kevin Huerter (22), an unlikely hero for the Hawks, led the Hawks in scoring with some hot shooting that helped to make up for a tough game for their best player Trae Young. Atlanta's superstar guard had a bad night shooting, hitting only five of 23 shot attempts, but he still finished with a decent 21 points. Huerter stepped up to drop 27 points to help his team take the win.

Joel Embiid put in a great effort with a game-high 31 points despite still nursing a worn-out knee, while Tobias Harris added 24. Their other star Ben Simmons had a game worth forgetting as he only scored five total points in the game, but he did spread the ball around with 13 assists. However, Simmons seemed to have no drive to score, taking only four shots in 36 minutes played.

This recent poor offensive performance might’ve been the primary reason that Philly came up short in this postseason. Simmons disappointing play in this series was epitomized by a late-game scoring opportunity: wide open under the rim, the Australian passed the ball instead of dunking for the score.

Embiid's injury woes didn't help either, as he pointed to the cartilage tear in his right knew that has throttled him all series.

"I still believe if I was 100%, if we were all together... I still believe we had a shot at winning it all," he said in his postgame comments to ESPN.

The Eastern Conference finals are shaping up to be a high-scoring affair

Two of the NBA’s best scorers will lead their teams against each other in the Eastern Conference finals between the Hawks and the Bucks. So far in the playoffs, Trae Young is averaging 29.8 points per game, while Giannis Antetokounmpo’s postseason average is just a point lower at 28.8. Both teams also easily scored well over 100 points in each of the three regular-season games they played head-to-head.

This series should be a showcase of high-powered offense, with defense taking a welcome backseat to two scoring machines in Antetokounmpo and Young.
