April Ross (39) and Alix Klineman took center stage on Friday on their way to Olympic gold in the women’s beach volleyball final. The unstoppable duo took the gold medal in straight sets (21-15, 21-16) over Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy of Australia.

The American women were riding an unbeaten streak of 6 games going into the final match against the Aussies. They've been practically invincible, having only dropped just one set during the entire tournament. And the "A-Team" did their nickname justice with a lucky seven in a row for their first-ever Olympic gold medal.

Ross, the only one out of the two with Olympic medal experience, having previously earned a silver in 2012 and a bronze in 2016, now has that elusive gold medal that took her three tries to obtain.

This was the first Olympic gold medal won by an American women’s beach volleyball team since legends Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh won it all at the 2012 London Games.
