A family living in Twin Waters, Australia came across the last thing you'd want to discover in your living room closet on June 3.

A snake had managed to take refuge in the bottom of the dark, enclosed space. Shocked, the parents called Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 for help.

The snake catchers posted a video on their Facebook page after the incident,§ documenting their rescue operation, as Stuart McKenzie was able to catch the reptile after some back and forth.

The suspense in the clip steadily built up as the snake catcher slowly slid open the closet door and began to remove one bag after another in his search for the snake.

After the McKenzie said, "Sometimes they sneak into the towels too," the thin black reptile suddenly popped out from under some backpacks, and his wrangler was finally able to pull him out of the closet by the tail.

The snake was poisonous

Shortly afterwards, he identified the animal as a red-bellied black snake, and said they are some of his favorite to work with. McKenzie was clearly very excited that his catch was very healthy and active.

According to the Australian Museum, red-bellied black snakes are the species most commonly found on the east coast of Australia.

The venomous snakes have bitten people on several occasions. Headaches, dizziness, nausea and vomiting are typical symptoms that can occur. However, these snakes aren't typically responsible for human deaths.
