New York, New York - Every New Yorker has their fair share of hair-raising subway stories – even someone as rich and famous as Bradley Cooper, who recently spilled the tea on a pretty horrific incident from 2019.

The 46-year-old appeared on the latest episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast and, among all the celebrity life chit-chat, slipped in a retelling of the time he got held up at knifepoint in the NYC subway!

Cooper was on his way to pick up his daughter Lea from Russian school, blissfully unaware of the danger as he listened to the music in his headphones.

"I was all the way at the end of the subway. Innately, I would just go all the way down to the end. I felt somebody coming up," the actor told Shepard. "I thought, 'Oh they want to take a photo or something.' As I turned, I’m up against the post like it’s 'The French Connection' or some s***, and I turned. I looked down and I see a knife."

At that point, Cooper's fight or flight instincts kicked in. He bolted onto the platform, vaulted the turnstiles and headed towards the exit. His would-be assailant ended up running out of the subway station with the star in hot pursuit, snapping as many photos as possible.

Cooper showed two NYPD officers the pictures, but they were apparently more interested in something else: "The guy kept saying... 'Are you stabbed?' I was like, 'No, no.' He was like, 'Check to see if you’re stabbed.' What happens is people get stabbed and they’re in shock."

Thankfully, Cooper was unharmed – physically, at least. According to Page Six, he didn't end up filing a complaint with the police.
