Rockville, Maryland - The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim will be getting a new online co-op mod this week, allowing gamers to slay dragons with their closest friends.

With Skyrim Together Reborn, a new mod from Tilted Online which drops July 8, players will get to traverse the land of Skyrim with up to eight friends with an online co-op feature.

Reborn is actually an update of their previous Skyrim Together mod, but the group promises the new version will be "a lot better" with massive improvements.

Tilted regularly post updates to social media on the project. A recent video shows a team of five and demonstrates how quest progress within the world are synced between them.

Modding PC games has been a thing for some time. The developers behind Skyrim, Bethesda Softworks, began recently implementing modding for console games into titles like Fallout and Skyrim.

While many fans would love for a sequel to Skyrim, Bethesda has been pouring most of its time into the upcoming title Starfield, putting any plans for a sequel on the back burner indefinitely.

Reborn offers those still playing the classic a new way to play, while giving old school fans a reason to revisit it after all these years.

Even 11 years after its release in 2011, Skyrim is still considered one of the greatest games ever made. It has gone on to build an avid modding community that is constantly pushing how far they can take the classic.

Like all mods, Reborn may have some teething issues.

"The mod won't be perfect. It will occasionally crash, some quests will break, there will be bugs. This is not fixable," the developers wrote.

"Still, it's playable, it's fun, and it's a lot better than the old Skyrim Together mod, which was the goal of Reborn."

Reborn won't be initially supported on the Xbox Game Pass version, versions of the game prior to Special Edition 1.6, or with Skyrim VR, but that may change with future updates.

For players looking to explore Skyrim with friends on July 8, instillation and further instructions will be available when the mod goes live.
