In a newly viral video on TikTok, a woman explains her unique skincare method by admitting: "Okay, super gross, but it works."

The clip shows her rubbing a banana peel all over her face.

"It's natural Botox," she continues, "the inside of a banana peel, no wrinkles!"

"The grosser it looks on the outside, the better your skins gonna look," she claims.

The bizarre skincare tip clip has already been viewed more than 1.9 million times and is making big waves on the social media platform.

Other users have decided to try out the trick, and many are trilled with the results. There are hundreds of videos under the hashtag #bananabotox that show people rubbing the yellow fruit refuse on their faces.

The banana beauty craze has also trended on TikTok before for its rumored effectiveness against under-eye circles. Some TikTokers are enthusiastic and others are skeptical, but they're all trying the fruity face hack.

Bananas aren't Botox, but they won't hurt your face either

The question remains: Do bananas have the same effect as Botox?

Dermatologist Mona Mislankar told the New York Post that the yellow fruit contains tannins, which can reduce redness and inflammation and tighten pores under certain circumstances.

But bananas aren't the same as Botox.

Mislankar said that topical treatments like banana peels aren't going to have the same effect as the neurotoxin Botox. After all, Botox is actually injected into the muscles of the face to temporarily relax them and prevent wrinkles from forming.

The good news about this TikTok skincare trend is that it probably won't hurt you or harm your skin, the dermatologist said – that is, unless you're allergic to the yellow fruit!
