Nancy Mace hit with new accusations in House Ethics investigation
Washington DC - MAGA Congresswoman Nancy Mace is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee for allegedly overcharging Congress for housing costs.
According to CNN, a recent report from the Office of Congressional Conduct alleges that Mace sought and was paid around $9,500 from a congressional program that defrays housing costs for lawmakers' Washington DC residences.
The OCC, a nonpartisan watchdog group, claimed there was "substantial reason to believe that Rep. Mace engaged in improper reimbursement practices."
On Monday, the Ethics Committee shared a press release announcing their investigation into the matter, but noted it does not "indicate that any violation has occurred."
Mace reacted in an X post, accusing the Ethics Committee of hitting her with a "BS" investigation and claiming it was "no coincidence" the news came out the same day tapes were released of her and other members of the House Oversight Committee deposing Bill and Hillary Clinton.
"Here is 'Omar,' the lead investigator," Mace – who is well-known for her Islamophobic rhetoric – added, referring to a photo included in the post. "Why is a Muslim who reportedly assaulted multiple women investigating anyone, let alone a survivor?"
Mace's attorney also sent a letter to the Ethics Committee, disputing the OCC's report as "fundamentally flawed," and alleging that it was "influenced by Rep. Mace's former fiancé" Patrick Bryant, who co-owned the DC home with her.
Mace previously accused Bryant of sexual assault.
