"We earned our way here," the first-year head coach Sonny Dykes said. "We're a tough football team. Football team is very optimistic!"

The Horned Frogs beat Michigan 51-45 in the CFP Fiesta Bowl Semifinal last Saturday to advance to the National Championship game against No. 1 Georgia at SoFi Stadium on Monday.

The Fiesta Bowl champions are coming off a great training week that included a Friday morning workout before traveling to Los Angeles for the championships.

"We're excited! It's been quite a journey to get here," Dykes told reporters. "We had a good week of practice. We feel like a lot of the heavy lifting is done to get us ready to go play."

On Friday, the team was greeted by family and friends as they came off of the plane to rapper Playboi Carti's song Woke Up Like This.

Ahead of the big showdown, coach Dykes revealed that TCU's motto for the big game against Georgia has been the same since the beginning of the season.

"Our players, they've been really mature all year long in their approach, and what they’ve done to prepare and get themselves ready to go out and play their best football," Dykes said about his team's readiness on Monday.

Kendre Miller, TCU's top back who suffered a knee injury against Michigan last weekend, has begun training and is seeing slight improvements.

"Kendre did a little bit of work yesterday that he hadn’t done and responded well to it," Dykes reported.

Miller was an exceptional player for the Horned Frogs this season who leads the program with 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns.

If he is unable to play in the championship game on Monday, senior rusher Emari Demercado will be expected to step in and carry the bulk of the load against the Bulldogs.

"I don’t think his status has changed, he’s still questionable," Dykes said about Miller's injury. "It depends on how he feels over the next 24 hours. We’ll have a pretty good idea at this time tomorrow."

TCU will look to win their first national title in 83 years on Monday against the Georgia Bulldogs at 7:30 PM EST at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
