Texas Longhorns' SEC realignment promises epic college football showdown

Austin, Texas - Texas football is set to bring the Austin heat to the breezy Midwest sooner rather than later, thanks to an early conference realignment.

The Texas Longhorns will travel to Michigan for their first meeting in nearly 20 years thanks to their school's conference realignment to the SEC.

The Longhorns' deal to ditch the Big 12 conference for the powerhouse SEC brought more than just competition to the Southern walls.

The Longhorns are set to travel to reigning Big 10 champions Michigan in 2024 – three years earlier than expected.

In other words, NFL heir and top-rated recruit of the 2023 class Arch Manning will lead his Texas offense to the "Big House" for one of the biggest scheduled showdowns of that season.

The SEC-Big Ten showdown between Texas and Michigan will mark only the second meeting between the two blue-blood programs, the first taking place in the 2005 Rose Bowl.

There, Texas edged out Michigan by a thrilling 28-37 finish to take home the Tournament of Roses crown!

Nearly 20 years later, the Wolverines will get a chance for sweet revenge. And while it won't come with a Rose Bowl title, the bragging rights for being one of the best teams in college football are up for grabs.

Michigan will host the Texas Longhorns on September 7, 2024, following their season opener, also at home, against Fresno State on August 31.
