Salt Lake City, Utah - The Utah Utes pulled off one of the biggest upsets of this college football season by manhandling the Oregon Ducks on Saturday night!

The 23rd-ranked Utes blew out the third-ranked Ducks 38-7 for their fourth-straight win, snapping Oregon’s five-game winning streak in the process.

While both squads are currently ranked in the top-25 in the nation, hardly anyone thought the Ducks were going to lose to the Utes, much less by such a wide margin.

The first half was all Utes as they put up four unanswered touchdowns, going into halftime with an eye-popping 28-0 lead.

Oregon finally broke the shutout on the second half’s opening drive, but the vibe in the stadium was totally in favor of the Utes.

Utah got back on the board twice more to finish off the upset of a Ducks team that came into the day with college football playoff aspirations.

Utah’s rushing attack ran roughshod over the Ducks, led by sophomore running back Tavion Thomas (20), who had a monster game on Saturday.

This season, he grabbed the school record for rushing touchdowns with 17 total, setting the record officially after Saturday’s game.

Not bad, considering he didn’t even reach 100 total yards rushing in the game.

Thomas had 21 carries for 94 yards and three touchdowns.

Oregon didn't just lose this game – the word around the NCAA is that the Ducks have also lost themselves a sure bid in the upcoming playoffs.

With a number three ranking coming into the game, the Ducks needed to win out to have a reasonable chance at extra football in January.

Now, the best that Oregon can hope for is a share of the Pac-12 South title and a spot in the conference championship game.

Next Friday, the Utes will finish their season at home against the Colorado Buffaloes, while the Ducks will be back at home to take on the Oregon State Beavers.
