The Last of Us star Melanie Lynskey claps back at body-shaming critics
New York, New York - The Last of Us star Melanie Lynskey shut down the critics after making her debut in episode four of the hit HBO TV show.
The 45-year-old stars as the vicious Kathleen, the calculated leader of a rebellion group.
Though her acting performance has been praised by fans and critics alike, Lynskey faced some cruel criticism from America's Next Top Model alum Adrianne Curry.
Curry tweeted a photo of the Yellowjackets star and wrote, "her body says life of luxury...not post apocalyptic warlord. where is lina hamilton when you need her?"
Curry has since deleted her Twitter account, but not before Lynskey screenshotted the post and clapped back in epic fashion.
"Firstly- this is a photo from my cover shoot for InStyle magazine, not a still from HBO's The Last of Us," she wrote. "And I'm playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of FEDRA. I'm supposed to be SMART, ma'am. "
"I don't need to be muscly. That's what henchman are for," she continued.
The Last of Us fans collectively rallied behind Lynskey after the criticism, and they can't get enough of her mic-drop of a tweet.
Fans react to Melanie Lynskey's response to body-shaming critics
"One might call me a gentle peacemaker but I vow to utterly destroy anyone who comes for Melanie Lynskey," one fan said.
"Don’t explain yourself to her, Melanie, ask her where she wants us to meet her," one user replied to Lynskey.
The actor also shared a lengthy thread expressing her gratitude for the role of Kathleen and what it means for audiences.
"I understand that some people are mad that I’m not the typical casting for this role. That's thrilling to me," she wrote. "Other than the moments after action is called, when you feel like you're actually in someone else's body, the most exciting part of my job is subverting expectations."
The Last of Us fans will be able to reunite with Kathleen sooner than usual, as episode five will air on Friday, two days ahead of its usual Sunday slot due to the Super Bowl.
