Last year, the gaming world had a few gems. Elden Ring was released, winning just about every gaming award under the sun, including Game of the Year.

God of War: Ragnarök gave Elden Ring a run for its money, and while it didn't make Game of the Year, it still managed to be a damn good game.

Stray proved that the nine lives of cats are far more fascinating than we think, and even managed to give to a good cause.

While January is a bit underwhelming in terms of the number of game releases compared to the coming months, there are definitely a few titles that will keep you engaged and busy as you make resolutions you probably won't stick with.

Forspoken follows a young New Yorker named Frey who somehow finds herself transported into the mysterious world of Athia. As she tries to find her way back home, she discovers that she has inherited a bunch of new, kick-ass magical abilities.

The most notable thing about Forspoken is its beautiful graphics, and attention to detail with the atmosphere of its world. It looks as if Horizon: Zero Dawn and Harry Potter somehow had a baby.

And, to boot, the protagonist is a woman of color, which is pretty damn cool.

The Dead Space series is arguably one of the greatest survival horror games ever made. So, it's no wonder the franchise is getting the remaster treatment.

Players take on the role of Isaac Clark in the year 2508 as he explores the Ishimura spaceship for his long lost girlfriend Nicole Brennan, only to find the ship overrun with monsters straight out of nightmares.

Creator Greg Schofield, who recently released a similar game called The Callisto Protocol in December, set out to create one of the most terrifying games ever created, and he definitely succeeded with flying colors.

The original Dead Space, released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in October 2008, still surprisingly stands the test of time.

So, why try to fix something that isn't broken?

As with most remakes and remasters, the new Dead Space promises updated graphics, and for a game known for its atmosphere and terrifying visuals, it will be exciting to see the world reimagined using next gen-level graphics.
