For season 47 of Saturday Night Live, it's out with the old, and in with the new.

After an eight-year run on the show, Beck Bennett announced in an Instagram post on Monday that he will be departing the show.

"Love you, SNL. Gonna miss you so much," he wrote in the caption. But Bennett isn't the only castmate that won't be returning to NBC's sketch comedy show this season.

Comedian Lauren Holt will also be leaving the show after just one season as a featured player – a term for newcomers and those who have been on the show less than two seasons.

But as the band Semisonic infamously said, "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end," and the sentiment couldn't be any more true in terms of SNL.

With the departure of Bennett and Holt comes the addition of two of the show's legendary featured players from season 46 getting bumped up to full-time status: Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang.

In their place comes three budding featured players in the comedy scene with Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman joining the cast for the upcoming season.

Hailing from Plano, Texas, Athari rose to comedic fame with the help of Goatface, a Comedy Central sketch comedy special he was featured on that aired in 2018.

For Los Angeles-based comic Johnson, it was his near-perfect impressions of former President Donald J. Trump and his performance on the show Adam Ruins Everything that helped catapult his name into the limelight.

Some might recognize Sherman from her time on The Eric Andre Show, or from her traveling comedy show, Helltrap Nightmare.

Last week, SNL announced several hosts and musical guests for its upcoming season, which kicks off on Saturday, October 2, at 11:30 PM EST on NBC.

The season opener will be hosted by Owen Wilson, with Kacey Musgraves – coming off the release of her fifth-studio album, Star-Crossed – as the musical guest.

The sketch comedy show shocked fans and celebrities by announcing that Kim Kardashian will be hosting the second episode of the season on October 9.

SNL veterans and fan-favorites Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Kennan Thompson, and Pete Davidson will all be returning to the show for its 47th season, amongst others.
