DNA test reveals shocking 57-year-old case of babies switched at birth!

Lawton, Oklahoma - Tina Ennis just wanted to track down her grandfather, so she did a DNA test. The confusing results prompted her mother, Kathryn Jones, to also get tested and what followed was an earth-shattering revelation for more than just the mother and daughter.

The results of Jones' DNA test, as the Daily Beast reported, revealed that the two women were not at all related.

In fact, Ennis' genetic family tree did not share any branches with her mother's. All of Ennis' relatives had the last name Brister, which neither she nor Jones recognized.

The mother and daughter quickly came to a horrifying realization: Jones had left the hospital with the wrong baby five decades ago. The woman she had raised was not her biological daughter.

"I never felt like I didn't belong," Ennis told the Daily Beast. She never had any reason to think that she wasn't related to the people that raised her, which made the news even more shocking.

In her search for the Bristers, Ennis used social media to connect with Jill Lopez. Lopez, who like her is 57, was raised by Joyce and John Brister, who are long deceased.

The possibility that they were not her biological parents also rattled Lopez, so she agreed to take a DNA test. The results proved the shocking truth: the two babies were switched at birth, which means that Lopez is Jones' biological daughter.

This knowledge shook all three women to the core

The three women filed a lawsuit against the Duncan Physicians Surgeons Hospital in Oklahoma City, alleging recklessness and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

As the suit progresses, the three women have been trying to process their unusual situation. But that hasn't been easy.

For Jones, the results have been devastating. She felt like she lost more than just her daughter: "I felt like I was losing my daughter and my grandchildren too."

Lopez was equally confounded for a long time: "I just had to get my emotions straight for a while, because it’s a whole lot to get your mind around. Like, you had a mom and I had a mom, and now I have a different mom."

Ennis, who took the first DNA test, which lead to the discovery, feels like she has lost on multiple levels as she will never get to meet her birth parents.

"Jill got to be with my real parents, and now she gets to be with my parents I grew up with. I didn’t know what to think about it at first, but the more I think about it, it makes me really sad."
