Fans who frequently board the starship enterprise by indulging in Star Trek: Picard on Amazon Prime and three seasons of Star Trek: Discovery on Netflix have been eagerly waiting for news on the franchise for years.

After the 2016's Star Trek Beyond, it didn't seem like a sequel would follow any time soon. But now, things are finally on the move again!

Kalinda Vazquez has been tasked by Paramount Pictures to write a new Star Trek movie, according to Deadline.

JJ Abrams’ company Bad Robot is reportedly also on board.

The film's plot is still a mystery, but apparently it will not be a direct continuation of the previous Enterprise adventures, but a whole new storyline instead.

Vazquez is a renowned author who is known for being a self-proclaimed Star Trek nerd. She already contributed as a writer on Star Trek: Discovery.

With so much experience in the Star Trek universe, fans have high hopes that the upcoming film will be a hit too.
