Sahar Tabar (19) once looked like a normal girl, but through plastic surgery and a lot of make-up, her appearance changed to something very extreme.

With injected lips and prominent cheek and jawbones, she resembles a horror version of Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie (45). The young Iranian girl also used make-up and Photoshop to turn herself into a creepy horror figure. Thanks to her zombie look, she became famous and had up to 486,000 followers on Instagram.

In October 2019, the Iranian judiciary had the young woman arrested and imprisoned, claiming that her blasphemous social media appearances were a bad influence on young people and an insult to Islam.

More than a year after her arrest, the verdict has finally come. The Guardian reported that Sahar Tabar has been sentenced to 10 years in prison!

Protest against harsh sentence, activist asks Angelina Jolie for help

The young woman is said to have contracted Covid-19 in the spring. There are also indications that she had a mental illness, after being admitted to psychiatric institutions repeatedly in the past.

Many consider the punishment much too harsh and protests against the prison sentence are popping up on the internet.

The Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad even called on Angelina Jolie to stand up for Sahar Tabar, arguing that this was only the latest in a long line of attacks on women's freedom in the country.

So far, there has been no reaction from Angelina Jolie, but the 45-year-old is well known for her human rights activism. She recently reached out to women facing an increased risk of abuse over the Christmas period.
