Little boy's only wish for Christmas moves his father to tears

The man, who posted his touching story on Reddit, is a driver for UPS and took a peek at the letter his boy had written to Santa.

He probably expected a typical wishlist but was surprised to find that his son Jonah only wanted one thing – and it moved him to tears.

"Dear Santa," the letter begins, "I would really like to spend more time with my dad, so I would really love and appreciate it if you could help him to get off work early."

This heart-melting plea struck a nerve and the dad couldn't help himself. "I cried," he admitted on Reddit, where he also he shared a picture of the letter.

Jonah also explained his father's situation to Santa: "Because he is a UPS worker and people are ordering so many presents so I would love it if you could help him in any way."

The post got almost 3,000 comments and Reddit users were almost as touched by the child's letter as the father himself. Many shared their own childhood memories of having parents who worked long hours.

"Dang, this is heart melting. It resonates big with me. My dad worked some late nights for many years during my childhood. ," wrote one commenter.

Another also empathized: "I've been there too. Throughout my whole time growing up, I always had at least one parent who worked night/late shifts or multiple jobs."

One commenter thanked the original poster for sharing the boy's letter and says that it "really opened up [his] eyes on some things."

Not least of all, some users wrote about their own experience working as delivery drivers, which made many reflect on their online shopping plans for this Christmas.
