Daphne Westbrook was 17 years old when she sent her last message to her mother, asking if she could extend her weekend visit at her father's house by a few hours in October 2019.

Rhoda Curtsinger has not seen or heard from her daughter since.

Police have now charged the girl's father John Westbrook (43) with abducting and kidnapping her. They believe that he is constantly feeding his daughter drugs and alcohol to keep her under his control.

A new lead suggested that Daphne recently contacted a friend out of the blue with an alarming message. She begged for help and claimed she was suicidal, according to a FOX13 report.

"In recent weeks, evidence uncovered during the investigation into John Westbrook has led authorities to become increasingly concerned for Daphne’s wellbeing," the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation shared in a Twitter post.

Investigators believe that Westbrook has traveled west with his now 19-year-old daughter and that they are living off the grid. He is said to be using cryptocurrency and is an expert in disguise.

Police recently raided the house of his sister in Florida who had been in contact with her brother. Her electronics have been seized in search of more clues to Westbrook's disappearance.

Cops believe the two could now be hiding in California, New Mexico, Washington, or Colorado.

Daphne's mother said she never imagined that her ex could be capable of such a crime, and only knew that he was upset with their custody agreement.

She has urged her daughter to send more messages so that she can be rescued.

"Please take note that no one is angry with you. You are so loved," Curstinger told FOX13.

Authorities have issued an AMBER alert to enlist the public's help in bringing Daphne home. She has also been added to their database for missing children.

The investigation is ongoing.
