USA - June 4 marks National Donut Day, and sweet treat lovers all over the country are making the most of this delicious holiday!

It's that time of year again – when donut lovers get treated to the best the country has to offer of these tasty goodies.

Whether it's a chocolate frosted version with sprinkles or an old-fashioned glazed, anyone who loves the delectable pastry is probably enjoying this blessed yearly event – when fast-food chains and coffee shops give away free donuts.

In addition to local bakery spots that most people visit, Walmart, Starbucks, and other national businesses are also partaking in the celebration.

DiGiorno got in on the action by creating a Twitter contest for lucky winners to try their new "DiGiornut", which seems to be a pizza version of the classic confection.

The official Twitter account for Peanuts also shared a delightful photo of Snoopy lovingly holding the baked good in his hands.

And seizing the opportunity to promote a more serious subject, Planned Parenthood even shared a tweet with a photo of a box of donuts that spelled out "Abortion is health care."

Of course, Dunkin' Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and Lamar’s Donuts & Coffee are also joining in on the fun by gifting customers freebies between certain hours.

But foodies beware – some locations are setting certain guidelines. Dunkin', for example, is only giving away free donuts with the purchase of a coffee.

Still, it's a sweet way to kick off the weekend.
