There's not a lot of things a tattoo artist hasn't seen or been asked to do. But tattooing a US senator on someone's body is relatively new, thanks to Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Denver tattoo artist Sam Kuhn is one of the several artists who have been asked to ink the image of Sanders from Inauguration Day, which turned into a meme frenzy on Twitter and Instagram.

Kuhn told the New York Post that she was jokingly throwing the idea around, until her friend James showed serious interest in putting "some bern" on a tattoo-free spot of his body.

She inked the colorized and cartooned version of the image on his shin, handmade mittens included, and shared the masterpiece on her Instagram page.

She captioned the post saying "a certain #gentleman in some cool #mittens that I saw on the internet", then went on to thank both her friend and Sanders for the inspiration for the ink.

Most of the commenters seem to love the tattoo, singing their praises and adoration for the work and Kuhn's talents.

She told the New York Post that she's been keeping her phone plugged in around the clock because the notifications just keep pouring in. It's yet another development in what's shaping up to be the most influential meme of the year.
