Growing up a Black, queer, and trans wasn't easy for Kitsch. They were made fun of at school on a regular basis, leading to severe agoraphobia, a crippling fear of leaving the house.

One day, Kitsch finally had enough of hiding their identity and decided to lean into everything that makes them special.

Now, Kitsch openly identifies as a "xenogender" demon doll. Xenogender is a term that describes specific relationships to things that people don't normally associate with gender . For the Brighton, UK native, that means identifying as something like "pink PVC" on days when she feels like it.

"Being told you're inherently monstrous your whole life...eventually, I embraced my monstrous-ness and became the demon I always wanted to be," they said on an episode of Hooked on The Look.

Though their style might seem absurd to onlookers, it's something Kitsch puts genuine thought and effort into. They customize their clothing with teddy bears, doll heads, and blood – both fake and real.

The looks they come up with are drastic, and the makeup is all done by Kitsch themselves. Most looks take around six hours to complete, But when it's your hobby, passion, and full identity, time is irrelevant.

"Being able to treat my body like a canvas is like my armor," they explained.

Vlad Von Kitsch's family has nothing but love to give

While their mom Paula doesn't fully understand their look, she hasn't lost an ounce of love or respect for her child. However, she does worry about their safety when out in public due to her eye-catching appearance.

"I think some people can be very rude for no reason," Paula said.

She continued, "I love the fact that you are different, you never wanted to be the same as anybody. You've got your own unique take on things, and I'm very proud."

Next, Kitsch wants to change up their aesthetic by splitting their tongue and getting a tattoo of a teddy bear pulling itself out their skin.
