Three simple changes to help climate action: Bags, bottles, and bamboo

New York, New York - Here are three ways you can take on a problem as big as climate change by making some easy changes to your daily routine.

Climate action can be sexy and romantic, but also very practical.

You can help out by reusing shopping bags, rocking a refillable water bottle, and switching to bamboo products.

Now, it's not all on you to save the world, but little changes you make can have a ripple effect, especially if more people catch on and follow your lead.

So, here are three changes to your everyday life that will ditch the plastics chocking our environment.

Reusable bags

Bags for days, baby! It's high time to get a canvas bag, a backpack, or your favorite swinging shopping bag.

The upside is using less plastic or paper bags from whatever shop you head to, like when you hit the grocery store.

The less we use, the less we need to make, and the fewer greenhouse gas emissions we put into our atmosphere.

According to The World Counts, over 5 trillion plastic bags are made each year, or 160,000 per second, but only 1% of them are recycled.

Anything we can do to drop that number is a climate win.

Reusable water bottles

We're all thirsty, and need to drink a lot of water every day, but many people still reach for plastic bottles to quench their thirst.

So many people go plastic that we end up using over 100 million plastic bottles every day, and most of those are not recycled and turn into a plastic pollution nightmare, says SeedScientific.

Switching to a reusable bottle today lets you join the push to stop that waste.

Your bottle doesn't have to be fancy (style points if it is), but it should definitely be big enough to keep you from getting parched.

Bamboo

Bamboo products are another way to stop using plastic, especially in the bathroom.

Instead of a regular plastic toothbrush, comb, or even floor mat, snag one made out of a panda's favorite plants.

Bamboo grows ridiculously fast, and can be 100% biodegraded, making bamboo products eco-friendly, as long as they aren't chemically processed during production.

It is a little tricky to get the switch to bamboo right, but if you can find products that aren't still packaged in tons of plastic, go for it.

And keep in mind that it really isn't all on you to halt the climate crisis.

So while you do your part, vote for politicians that will hold fossil fuel companies, the biggest contributors to climate change, accountable.

If you're out there looking for something you can do to slow climate change, then start by grabbing a reusable bag, a refillable water bottle, and a bamboo toothbrush.
