Diane Keaton's cause of death revealed as family suggests donations for star's beloved causes

Los Angeles, California - Hollywood legend Diane Keaton's revealed her cause of death as in a statement expressing gratitude for the outpouring of grief for the star.

Keaton's relatives told People Magazine the 79-year-old had died of pneumonia, and that they were "very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days."

The Oscar-winner's death was announced on October 11, triggering a wave of tributes from fans and fellow actors.

"She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her," Keaton's family said.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s for her role in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall, which earned her the Academy Award and launched a decades-long career in film.

She was also widely remembered for her role as Kay Adams Corleone, the wife of Al Pacino's Michael Corleone, in the Godfather trilogy.

Her decades-long career in Hollywood also included Reds, Father of the Bride, and Something's Gotta Give.

Born in 1946 in Los Angeles, Keaton grew up in Santa Ana, California, with three siblings. She trained as an actor in New York and made her Broadway debut at age 22 in the musical Hair.
