Arizona mother kills her children because "she was hearing voices telling her to"

Tempe, Arizona - When a middle-aged woman flagged down a policeman at around 7 AM on Saturday morning, the officer had no reason to suspect anything bad. But what he was about to hear would chill him to his bones.

The woman claimed "she was hearing voices telling her to kill her kids."

As CNN reported, the officers went straight to the house of the alleged offender, where they were confronted with a hair-raising scene.

As Tempe Police Sgt. Steven Carbajal said in a press conference, the children's lifeless bodies showed "obvious signs of physical trauma".

Yui Inoue (40), who had previously contacted the police herself, was immediately arrested and has been booked into the Maricopa County Jail.

To make matters worse, Carbajal said that officers had already been to the family's apartment on that very day.

Shortly after midnight, the children's parents had been in a loud domestic dispute, but since everything seemed to be fine when emergency services arrived, the parties were separated and the police officers left.

"The children were safe in their bed. It didn't seem like there was an immediate threat to the children."

Father of the children is not considered a suspect

The children's father was not in the house at the time of the attack and is not considered a suspect. When he was given the tragic news, he "just broke down" in front of police.

"This should have never happened," Carbajal continued, "What the children experienced is just horrific, really."

Currently, the city's crisis response team is working with the officers who were at the scene. "For those that witnessed the scene, for those that saw the children, it's something that's going to stay with them for the rest of their lives."

Yui Inoue has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. A court date has not yet been set.
