German shepherd goalie scores internet fame with incredible hockey skills

Tracadie, Canada - Maggie is no ordinary German shepherd – instead of playing fetch, this dog much prefers using her lightning-quick reflexes to keep pucks out of the goal like an NHL-level netminder!

Maggie has made a name for herself online with some incredibly impressive goalie skills.

In her latest viral TikTok clip from Sunday, which racked up a whopping 1.5 million views, the heroic hound is locked in on the pucks her owner chips at her as she guards the goal.

You might be temped to brush off the idea of a puck catching pooch by saying she's just playing fetch, but that's clearly not the case with Maggie. Her owner, Yannick Devost, has put in a lot of work to actually train her as a hockey player.

Another video shows Maggie holding her ground as her owner shoots loads of other balls at her. She lets tennis balls, wiffle balls, other fluffy toys sail by. One even bops her on the head, and she doesn't budge – until her owner hits the black puck.

Then Maggie the goalie springs into action and makes the save, proving her razor-sharp focus.

A few commenters asked if she was catching real hockey pucks made out of plastic between her teeth.

Devost assured concerned fans on his Instagram page that he's using foam pucks with his pet. He also insisted that the pucks aren't a choking hazard and that "Maggie loves them."

That means this sporting pet can continue her training and join Air Bud and Soccer Dog in the pantheon of great animal athletes!
