Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman, has passed away

New York, New York - Kevin Conroy, known for his iconic performances as Batman across multiple projects, has passed away at the age of 66.

Conroy, who had battled cancer, brought the Dark Knight to life as the voice actor behind Batman: The Animated Series from 1992 to 1996. He returned to voice the superhero in almost 60 different projects.

The late star made a live-action appearance as Bruce Wayne for the very first time in Crisis on Infinite Earths, a crossover event for The CW's Arrowverse.

In addition to his work as the caped crusader across TV and film, Conroy was also trained in theater and performed in Eastern Standard on Broadway.

Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, who played the Joker opposite Conroy's Batman, paid tribute to his costar after news of his passing broke.

"Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother," the 71-year-old said, per Deadline. "He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated."

Conroy is survived by his husband Vaughn C. Williams, sister Trisha, and brother Tom.
