Decatur, Georgia - Blind and deaf, Bitsy the dog joined Hayden Kristal's family about five years ago. Her father Steve was initially worried that the puppy wouldn't have a nice life due to her physical limitations.

However, the four-legged friend proved him wrong and immediately wowed everyone with her zest for life.

Bitsy's owner told The Dodo: "The first thing she did when I brought her home was to make a beeline for the food dish, crawl into it and eat until she passed out."

Bitsy never showed any sign of helplessness. The canine traveled all over the country with her owner, who is also deaf.

"Bitsy is the sweetest, friendliest, most loving and loyal dog in the world," Hayden Kristal said. "She is bold and sassy and she loves adventure!"

Then came the coronavirus pandemic – an "adventure" everyone would have been happy to do without.

The pandemic hit Kristal's father Steve especially hard. He wasn't able to visit for more than a year due to safety concerns.

When he finally saw his daughter and Bitsy again, he wondered if the animal would even recognize him. Luckily, Hayden Kristal filmed the emotional moment when the two first spotted each other.

The TikTok clip went viral shortly after it was posted, with more than 83,000 people watching the heartwarming moment where Bitsy surprised Steve once again.

Of course, she hadn't forgotten about Steve and jumped on him with glee. He couldn't believe his luck and rejoiced with his furry friend.

Hayden Kristal was not at all surprised about the dog's reaction. She knew from the start that Bitsy would never forget her beloved grandpa.
