Piers Morgan's Twitter account sends out dozens of offensive tweets after apparent hacking
London, UK - TV presenter Piers Morgan’s Twitter account was briefly wiped after reports it was hacked.
The former CNN and Good Morning Britain host, who has 8.3 million followers on the social media site, had no profile picture, banner image, or tweets on Tuesday.
According to reports, his account had shared posts overnight containing fake news, racial slurs, and abusive messages directed at the late Queen Elizabeth II and singer Ed Sheeran.
"get a f***ing haircut you ugly bum," read one tweet directed at former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Another in the endless stream of posts said: "im too drunk sorry guys merry christmas you filthy animals and a happy new year you dirty c****." Many more were far worse.
Morgan’s Instagram account appeared to be unaffected.
However, the official account of his latest talk show tweeted: "In case you were wondering, @piersmorgan has been hacked."
"Any chance of getting him back, @elonmusk?"
By Wednesday morning, all Morgan's tweets that went up before December 27 had been restored, along with his profile picture and banner. There was still no indication as to what exactly went wrong.
