British police said they were reviewing the clip, which was published by The Sun on Monday. Buckingham Palace would not comment on the incident.

On Saturday morning, a 19-year-old man armed with a crossbow climbed a rope ladder over the wall of the Queen's royal estate, west of London. He was caught shortly afterwards and has since been under medical supervision.

In the chilling video revealed by The Sun, which the man apparently sent to acquaintances before the incident, a masked figure dressed in all-black and wielding a crossbow says, "I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I’ve done and what I will do. I will attempt to assassinate Elizabeth, Queen of the Royal Family."

His voice distorted with effects, he then claims to be seeking revenge for the 1919 Amritsar massacre, when imperial British troops opened fire on demonstrators in the Indian city of Amritsar, killing hundreds.

"I'm an Indian Sikh, a Sith. My name was Jaswant Singh Chail, my name is Darth Jones," the would-be assassin continues, in a reference to Star Wars.

The intruder got within 500 yards of the Queen's private chambers within the palace walls before being stopped, according to The Sun.

Despite the horrific brush with danger, Prince Charles (73) and his wife, Duchess Camilla (74), as well as the Queen's youngest son, Prince Edward (57), and his wife attended a church service at Windsor on the same day.
