Man has coin stuck up his nose for more than half a century!

Moscow, Russia - A 59-year-old man suffering from severe breathing problems was admitted to the hospital in Zelenograd, Russia. Doctors initially suspected that the cause must be a crooked nasal septum – but then they made a bizarre discovery.

A CT scan showed that the right nasal passage was completely blocked by a foreign object, the Russian news portal NetAll reported.

The doctors were confused but as they were wondering what could be up their patient's nose, the man suddenly remembered an event that happened to him more than 50 years before.

One day when he was around six years old, he was playing with coins and got a particularly small one – worth around one penny at that time – stuck up his nose.

Being a little boy, he was too afraid to tell his strict mother about it, and so the tiny coin stayed where it was for his entire life!

According to Metro, the coin was finally retrieved from the man's nose after doctors carried out an endoscopic surgery to remove the nasal stones that had formed around the piece of metal.

Thanks to the surgery, the Russian man now has full nasal capacity for the first time in half a century. As a bonus, he also got his septum straightened and was discharged after two days of hospitalization.
